The combination of weight and height plus the heat created from sunlight through the window may cause the fabric of your draperies to relax. When this occurs, it is not uncommon to have several inches of stretching. This can be remedied by having the hem of the drape shortened.
You may notice just the opposite of stretching occurring from time to time. On a humid day, homeowners may find their drapes have shrunk. The reason for this contraction is certain fibers have a tendency to absorb moisture. If shrinkage should occur, allow ample time before having the drape lengthened.
Some amazing advancements in dyes used in manufacturing of drapery materials have been made in recent years. In time, however, expect some color change due to ultraviolet rays of direct sun. At times, the discoloration is caused by atmospheric soil. When this happens, we can clean and restore the color.
